Knitting with Friends

1:30pm-3:30pm Tuesday fortnightly

New members are very welcome, come and have a chat, a cuppa and join the happy group.

Projects:

     · Knitted jumpers and caps for babies in Africa

     · Baby knits for Young Mums Project, Canberra Hospital

     · Skull caps for our soldiers in Afghanistan

     · Blanky Bears for children in Westmead hospital

     · Rugs to keep people warm

Computer Classes

Mon –Thur 10am-12 midday

These classes are to assist community members better understand how to access information and keep in contact with family and friends via email.

Class sizes are small and the cost is $6.00 per 2 hour session.

 

Coffee and Conversation (Multicultural Group)

On the second Wednesday of each month 10:30am-12:30pm we get together, Coffee and Conversation is loosely structured around a topic or event determined by the Group.

     · 11thMay- DVD ‘Stories-African families tell their stories of Parenting’

Cowra Phone Care

Free Service- A trained volunteer makes a short, friendly phone call to you, to make sure you are safe, and well. This service is for elderly people, people with disabilities and people who are medically dependent, living on their own.

The service can also be arranged on a temporary basis, during a period of rehabilitation or when a carer is absent.

Community Mornings and Afternoon Teas

Community Morning teas and Afternoon teas at the Centre, we now have a lovely open community area for everyone to enjoy. Morning tea will be held once a month on a Friday (10am- 11:30am-1stFriday of the month) and Afternoon tea once a month on a Tuesday (2pm-3:30pm -3rdTuesday of the month)

Cost is $1.00 for a cuppa and slice, cake or biscuits. Great Value and Great Company

Book Shop and Swap


(Mon-Fri 10:00 am- 3:30pm)

As soon as the book cases arrive, due in two weeks, the Neighbourhood Centre Volunteers will commence organising Book Shop and Swap. This new community activity provides access to buy and borrow books.

How does it work? Community members choose a book and pay $2.00, when they return the book they swap that book for another (no cost). Of course if you don’t bring that book back and you want another you will pay $2.00 for the book you choose.
